I Brake for Bad Boys
Janelle Denison

After hours, however, they'll engage in erotic games that go beyond all the boundaries to a place where every forbidden desire is fulfilled, every seductive pleasure explored...

moosehog - 3 questions Cissy
robin002 - Hi, Janelle
Janelle Denison - Here's a blurb for SOMETHING WILDE . . .
Cissy - k, moose
Meesha - Bye all....Miss me
Janelle Denison - Jill Richardson made a vow never to mix business with pleasure . . . but that was before spending long days working side by side with the devestatingly handsome Eric Wilde, a man who is rumored to live up to his name. Eric makes no secret of wanting Jill in his bed, and he’s offering a tempting promise – at work they can maintain a professional relationship. After hours, however, they’ll engage in wanton games that go beyond all the boundaries to a place where every forbidden desire is fulfilled, every seductive pleasure explored . . .
moosehog - Janelle ....NOTHING Much if the hat manages to cover it.
Janelle Denison - By, Meesha!!!! Come back if you can!
Caffey - rofl Janelle, we are still trying to figure out what he's holding. i think its a lobster
Janelle Denison - Hee-hee, Moose!
Janelle Denison - It does look like a lobster -- he'd better what out it doesn't pinch him, LOL!
Caffey - lol
Janelle Denison - About my other Wilde brothers -- Steve Wilde's story will be out in a single title next July '03 (as a Brava) entitled WILDE THING, followed by Adrian Wilde's story in the Bad Boys To Go anthology, entitled THE WILDE ONE.
Caffey -
Janelle Denison - Then . . . there are four more other Wilde cousins I learned about who will also be getting their stories. So, all in all, there will be about 7 Wilde stories in the series.
Cissy - I am SO in line for those, Janelle!
Cissy - moosehog has the first question (O, moosehog, moosehog in line)
robin002 - SEVEN Stories!! WOW!!!
Caffey - hi Trice!
Janelle Denison - I still have 5 more of them to write!!!
Cissy - yea!!!
Janelle Denison - Hey, Trice! Thanks for coming by
Denise - how many will you get to write, Janelle?
Cissy - Hi Trice! Welcome to our chat with Janelle Denison! We're talking to Janelle tonight about "Something Wilde," her novella in I BRAKE FOR BAD BOYS. We'll be working on protocol tonight, so if you have questions for Janelle, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Denise - oops, sorry <G>
moosehog - Janelle , How hard is it to do the Brava line VS the HQ line ? Do you have any more leeway with one vs the other ? Which is the easiest ? and do you ever get input on the cover for Brava ? or is that a higher up decision?
Janelle Denison - Okay, Diana, lay that question on me!
Caffey - Thats WILD Janelle
Caffey - ?
Janelle Denison - Hey, I thought it was ONE question, Diana, LOL! Let me answer them one at a time.
TriceCyn - Hi Cissy...Thanks!!! I read Something Wilde...WOW!!!
moosehog - It's a run on question ...sort of like a run on sentence don't you know .
Cissy - isn't it, Trice?
Denise - Diana, that string of questions makes me glad I tied you down to a short story <G>
Caffey - lol Denise
Janelle Denison - Brava vs. HQ line -- Brava isn't easier or more difficult, just different, because the tone of the stories need to be really hot and sexy. Above and beyond Temptation and Blaze. I enjoy writing the Bravas -- and I have a TON of leeway in those books. I've never had anything censored, whereas HQ tends to be a bit more cautious about the over the top erotic stuff.
Denise - Caffey, you're in my list too, so don't laugh too hard
OL - I am now trying IE see if it works better
Caffey - rofl...run on question.... excellent excuse... but great question (s)
Caffey - Denise
moosehog - Denise .... I never ask simple questions .
TriceCyn - Yup Cissy and Janelle in person..you wouldn't think she could write that stuff that is soooo Wilde
Janelle Denison - Do I ever get input on my cover -- Kinda. I give them a description of the book, and they run with the idea from there. Brava's covers have been incredible, and I'm so happy with WILDE THING. I love that cover and think it'll be real eye-catching to romance readers. As for HQ, we fill out what's called an art fact sheet with character sketches, scenes, etc, and then they TRY and come up with something similiar to that.
Cissy - sure I would, Trice
Janelle Denison - I'm glad you enjoyed SOMETHING WILDE, Trice!
TriceCyn - LOL....sorry in a good mood..mom got moved to Rehab
Caffey - thats wonderful news TriceCyn Hugs!
Cissy - oh good, Trice
Cissy - O has the next question (moosehog, moosehog, Caffey in line)
Denise - Diana, THAT'S exactly why you get 900 words total in Dancing In The Dark
OL - That is great Trice so she is getting better
TriceCyn - Yup but when I meet Janelle I thought hot stuff just not this kind of stuff
OL - What made you want to write in the first place?
Janelle Denison - That's great, Trice! I hope mom's doing well
TriceCyn - HI Helena
moosehog - Denise
TriceCyn - Thanks Ladies
Celeste - Hi Helena
Helena - Janelle and all
Caffey - helena
Janelle Denison - OL -- I started writing after reading TONS of romances. My husband jokingly said to me, since I read so many romances (at the time, about 20 a month!), why don't you try and write one. And I did. But it took me nearly 10 years to really become multi-published and stable with the HQ lines.
Cissy - Hi Helena! Welcome to our chat with Janelle Denison! We're talking to Janelle tonight about "Something Wilde," her novella in I BRAKE FOR BAD BOYS. We'll be working on protocol tonight, so if you have questions for Janelle, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Mary f - Hello Everyone
Janelle Denison - Hi, Helena!!!
Janelle Denison - Hi, Mary
Cissy - (not that you need an official welcome, Helena )
TriceCyn - Hi Mary
Caffey - You have a great husband Janelle
Caffey - Morgan
Janelle Denison - Hi, Morgan!!!!!
Cissy - Hi Morgan! Welcome to our chat with Janelle Denison! We're talking to Janelle tonight about "Something Wilde," her novella in I BRAKE FOR BAD BOYS. We'll be working on protocol tonight, so if you have questions for Janelle, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Willie - Hi, everyone
Cissy - Hi Willie!
Mary f - Hello Morgan
Morgan - I don't need the official Hoopla either Cissy. LOL.
Caffey - now Willie
Janelle Denison - Hi, Willie
Caffey - (i'm abusing howdy)
OL -
Morgan - HI Janelle. I know i'm late, but let go with Fashionably, shall we? LOL .
Janelle Denison - LOL, Caffey!
Cissy - lol, true, Morgan - but I use any excuse
Janelle Denison - Works for me, Morgan. Thanks for coming!
moosehog - How did you get involved with Brava and the Anthologies for BAD BOYS ? Did they come looking for you or did you go looking for them ? And in the beginning while you were writing your first brava did you have to spice it up becaus HQ wasn't as spicy or did you have to tone it down even for brava ? (Though I have to tell you that I still think your contribution to the BadBoys are hotter than Lori's and your name deserves to be the bigger name up top ...that was my opinion months ago and that hasn't changes .) !!! (I do like Lori but I think janelle's are hotter .)
Denise - ?
Morgan - <g> Well, oyu do whatever strikes your fancy, Cissy. LOL.
Caffey - lol Morgan
Janelle Denison - Man, Diana -- another run on question??? LOL.
Helena - I just picked up the Blaze tonite and was upset that Doubleday told me they were unable to send IBFBB
Caffey - sold helena?
Morgan - You're welocme. Of course i wanted to come and chat. I loved IBFBB! And The Ultimate Seduciton.
Caffey - I got and read all the Blazes but saving that one for this weekend
Cissy - that's not fair, Helena!
moosehog - Why not helena?
Janelle Denison - How I got involved with Brava and the bad boys anthologies -- I quiered Kate, she'd apparently already read my stuff and knew of me and my work, and offered me an anthology in the I Love Bad Boys anthology. From there, everything has pretty much snowballed into single titles and more anthologies. I love writing them!
robin002 - not feeling well ladies -- g2g
robin002 - have fun
Cissy - feel better, robin
Caffey - bye Robin. hope you feel better soon!
Morgan - And Hiya Mare. <G>
Denise - feel better, Robin
Helena - I have no Idea they didnt say they sent me a coupon instead
Morgan - Night Robin, Fell better.
Celeste - Night Robin and get well
Cissy - that's so great for you, Janelle - I'm so excited you're making the jump to single titles. More of your stuff is always a good thing
Morgan - Feel.
Mary f - Night Robin
Cissy - moosehog has the next question (Caffey, O, Denise in line)
Janelle Denison - With my first Brava anthology, I definitely spiced it up, but I think I was still kinda reserved. so, with SOMETHING WILDE I decided to just "go for it" and went "Wilde", so to speak, LOL. The characters and story line for that anthology called for very erotic scenes, so I just wrote them and thought if I'd gone to far, Kate would pull me back. She didn't change a thing
Caffey - ...thats much better Morgan...
Helena - ?
moosehog - Janelle , How much research goes into writing a Brava vs . Writing a HQ book are you given more ideas from the editors with one vs the other ??? And how come you and Carly haven't come up with a crocheted Bra for your books to match her panties???
moosehog - That was number three and final of the evening ladies and gents
moosehog - For me that is .
Janelle Denison - And thanks for the compliments, Moose, they mean so much -- though Lori has worked very hard in her career and has definitely earned that to spot. I'm still working on that!
Caffey - then when my question comes, you'll breathe out Janelle... i can never dream up such great questions
Janelle Denison - The ideas are all mine -- and I plot withCarly. Research is basically the same for both lines, depending on the storyline, so there's not a lot of difference there.
Janelle Denison - And I'll ask Carly about a crocheted bra
moosehog - Caffey , Denise , Mac and Janelle ...did you all get your cards in the mail yet ???
Janelle Denison - Not out of breath, Caffey, but you'll have to excuse any typos since I'm typing so darn fast!
Caffey - yup! got the moose!
moosehog - Janelle you do that ....there is marketing somewhere for that line I am telling you .
Cissy - Caffey has the next question (O, Denise, Helena in line)
Janelle Denison - I haven't gotten a card yet -- though my mail really is SNAIL MAIL!
Caffey - Janelle, whats your favorite wild scene?
Denise - Diana, I told you I don't send cards. It's one of the things that I had to let go when I started working two jobs, writing, being President of Pennwriters and having a family
Caffey - in other words whats your favorite scene in this book?
Denise - and I haven't gotten any either, but our pony express is very slow
Denise - I think the pony died and no one told the post office <G>
Caffey - lol Denise
OL -
Janelle Denison - The ending . . . where Eric locked Jill in the ladie's restroom, made love to her, and she finally realized just how much she loved him. ::sigh::
Mary f - lmao
Rosedust202 - Hello all
Caffey - Rose
Janelle Denison - Hi, Rosedust!
Denise - hello
Morgan - ooo, ooo, me too! BUt i DO like when he first goes in her bedroom. I just picture him, all in black, looking sleek and sexy. *Sigh*
YH - Hi.
Cissy - Hi Rosedust Welcome to our chat with Janelle Denison! We're talking to Janelle tonight about "Something Wilde," her novella in I BRAKE FOR BAD BOYS. We'll be working on protocol tonight, so if you have questions for Janelle, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Cissy - what a way to go, Janelle!
Rosedust202 - Hi Janelle
Cissy - O has the next question (Denise, Helena in line)
Mary f - Hello Rose
Janelle Denison - That was fun, too, Morgan -- kinda made him look like a pirate, or a cat burgler, or something straight out of her fantasies
Morgan - not just HERS Janelle! <G>
YH - bye
moosehog - O honey ...what happened to you ??? You get bumped ???I bet Cissy did it because Sara isn't here tonight.
O - i keep getting bujped
Janelle Denison - LOL, Morgan. I won't tell Carlos
Caffey - oh, O, its your turn when you got bumped out
Caffey - lol
Cissy - would I do that, moose?
moosehog - anyone ???
Morgan - LOL, I knew i could count on you to keep my secrets. Thanks! LOL.
Denise - yes, please Diana
moosehog - YES !!!
Stella - Hi folks
Rosedust202 - oooops...i'm blinking and stuff..Have fun you all. Nite
Janelle Denison - FYI, everyone, the storyline and premise of WILDE THING is . . . phone sex. Lots of it
Stella - Just got back!
Cissy - Hi Stella!
Janelle Denison - Good night Rosedust. Thanks for stopping in!
TriceCyn - sorry moms is on the phone .... Hi to all that came in and I missed
moosehog - hi stella
Cissy - O, did you ask your question?
Janelle Denison - Hi, Stella
Mary f - Hello Stella
Stella - Hi Cissy
Mary f - Hello Stella
Caffey - Stella
Helena - SteLLLLLLAAAA
Stella - Hello all of you darlings
Janelle Denison - Caffey, I laugh every time you greet someone with your flasher
Stella - Hi Janelle--you're a darling, too....
Willie - Hi Stella
Stella - hi Helena and Cathie and Mary and Morgan and O
O - No did you enjoy doing the Anthology and would you do another one and who would you like to do it with?
Janelle Denison - Thanks Stella
Stella - Helena
Caffey - Janelle
Morgan - Well, that was rude.
Cissy - welcome back, Morgan
Morgan - This chatroom can't get the better of me. NO!
Morgan - Thanks Cissy.
moosehog - Morgan ... you talking to yourself again????
Janelle Denison - I *loved* doing the Brava "bad boys" anthologies -- and I'll be doing more in the future. I have one out next year (Bad Boys To Go), and then more in 2004. They're keeping me busy. As for who I'd like to do an anthology with -- well, I think Angela Knight is one of the hottest writers around (Secrets, and her Vampires are so yummy!), and hmm. . . maybe Nora Roberts because she'd sell millions and I'd make lots of money, LOL!
moosehog - Would it help if we put some crazy glue on your seat so that Cissy can't kick you out again ?
Cissy - Denise has the next question (Helena in line)
Morgan - So what Diana? <g> I like my own company. LOL.
Helena - we started to pick our vacation for next year I just hope I get the third week of july and the week for RT I have never been to NY or to RT
Denise - Janelle, how many books did you write before going single title?
moosehog - ROLMFAO
O -
Caffey - ROFL
O - I still working on my vacation for this year
Janelle Denison - Denise, I wrote 26 Harlequins before writing my first single title for Brava.
moosehog - 21 ??????
moosehog - Hey . I was close ...LMAO
Caffey - Me either Helena. ... i have never been to any of the conferences
Denise - Janelle, that's a great number. It's nice to know the HQ editors recognised talent
Helena - wrote or made it to print I bet she has some books sitting at home waiting for me to read
Caffey - you must be missing 5 out of your collection moosehog
Janelle Denison - Thanks, Denise. I'm lucky to have such a great editor at Temptation/Blaze (Brenda Chin)
moosehog - 26 over what ??? 10 years now right ?
O - Wow the powerball her is 52 Million
Cissy - Helena has the next question (O in line)
moosehog - Wise butt cathie
Janelle Denison - Well, actually, that's 26 of 'em since 1998, when my first Temptation was published!
Helena - Brenda is nice too I met her
Helena - Janelle, how do they know how many books you have sold. The reason I ask is because when I got my four blaze books at Walmart tonight they all had the same bar code and rang up as Julie Leto!!! Now while she is another of my favorite authors that just doesn't seem fair
Caffey - Diana
Denise - Janelle, you already know how much I admire your ability to write Temptations
moosehog - I just went over to your site and checked your backlist ...It is 22 on there .. tell someone to change that to correctly show your work .....VBG
Denise - Helena, that happened to an author friend of mine. She protested immediately
Janelle Denison - Ohmygosh, Helena, somethings wrong with their barcoding system!
Denise - you have to tell the clerk not to do that. it kills royalties
Denise - it's something they teach clerks, Janelle
Denise - they see it like buying four or the same product, like paper towels
Helena - they put a label over the reg bar code
Caffey - i read all the TEMPTATION HEAT books of yours but PRIVATE PLEASURES. never found that one... i love the temptation line
moosehog - Helena ...that's the way it does it for me too . They barcode 1 in the line and all get sold under that one .
Cissy - O has the next question (no one in line)
Denise - you have to TELL them to ring books seperately
Janelle Denison - Caffey -- contact me privately at janelle@janelledenison.com
Helena - No the same barcode is on all the books
Caffey - Tell harlequin
O - What do you want to write that you han't written about before
Helena - I checked
Janelle Denison - No, Helena -- each book has a different bar code and ISBN
Cissy - that would be a problem, Helena - if it's the same barcode
moosehog - Wal-Mart places a white barcode sticker over the real one and they all say the same thing .It's hit or miss as to what it will say each month .
Janelle Denison - O - I can't say that there is anything that I want to write that I haven't written before. I love writing contemporary romances, and I love writing for both HQ and Brava. I'm very happy!
Helena - yes I know Janelle but they put their own lablel over it
O - Yes it does i work in a libray
Denise - maybe Walmart is using the same code. tell Harlequin and tell someone in Wlamart's home office, not someone at the store. They have no control over it
Caffey - thats right Janelle. I think harlequin needs to be told
Janelle Denison - Well, royalties are also calculated based on books that are shipped, against books that are returned. Unless everything has turned computerized, which is so possible!
Denise - it won't change until Walmart hears from enough authors and readers. they don't understand why it matters, but IT DOES matter
Caffey - you should be Janelle. this is all just fabulous for you!
Helena - and here I thought I was giving you guys your three cents
Janelle Denison - That's about it, Helena!
Caffey - well you'll have a few of us here tonight contacting harlequin!
Denise - Helena, so far KMart and Target aren't using one code, but they will if we dont stop this at Walmart and make them fix it
Caffey - ?
moosehog - with inflation you all aren't up to 5 cents yet ??? (I will never understand how they think it is right for you all to get so little from the sale of a book .
